We’ve talked about home maintenance on this blog before…
Actually, we thought we had, but looking back over these last few years, it turns out we’ve mostly just talked about yard maintenance. In any case, here we go again….
Did you get that email that went out the other day, labeled “Home Maintenance Projects?” Well, in case you didn’t… it was about keeping up your home (again, the exterior part), while obeying the neighborhood rules. We hope you don’t mind, but Stephens Grove does have some rules, and they’re all about preserving property values — yours and your neighbors’.
- Mailboxes: Exact duplicates of existing mailboxes are available from Carolina Mailboxes, (704) 334-3393. And under Design Guideline No. 2.27, you don’t need to apply for approval to make the update — but you need to stick to the original model. You can get the numbers at Walmart.
- Turf Area: This one falls under guideline 2.30.1. Any open space on your property needs to have grass on it — no bare lots. Also, you have to mow it: “grass shall not exceed 6” in height, any dead plants shrubs or trees should be removed and turf areas should be kept weed free.” And if you have a problem with weeds, here’s a place where you can get some advice: https://oldworldgardenfarms.com/2021/05/09/weed-free-flowerbeds/
- Exterior: Don’t let things fall apart: “Any exterior home components (i.e., siding, gutters/downspouts, shutters, roof shingles, windows and doors), which are missing, broken or otherwise in a state of disrepair must be repaired.” See 2.30.4.
- Trash Containers: As per Per 2.37, you need to stash your bins out of sight from the street.
You can read more about all of this on Facebook. If you have questions on these or any other requirements, you may email the board at thehoaboard@stephensgrove.com.
And hey, just to let you know we’re not only about rules and regulations around here, the eblast finished with a fun reminder: Don’t forget, Oktoberbest is coming up on Oct. 1!
